The PDP says Olisa Metuh preformed credibly as its publicity secretary.
The former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, has picked a nomination form to re-contest his former position in the July 20 Special National Convention of the party.
The Director General of his campaign organization, Okey Ezenwa, picked the form on behalf of Mr. Metuh in Abuja on Wednesday.
Mr. Ezenwa said the decision of Mr. Metuh to pick the nomination form follows “series of consultations with critical stakeholders and based on the conviction that Chief Olisa Metuh performed creditably as the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the last 14 months and as such should be returned”.
“It is public knowledge just as it is incontrovertible that in the last 14 months, Chief Olisa Metuh succeeded in repositioning the publicity arm of the PDP by bringing in virtuosity as well as introducing several innovations which were effectively deployed to enhance the public rating of the PDP, win more followership for the party and put the opposition at check”, he said.
Mr. Ezenwa also said his organization is aware that the post of the National Publicity Secretary is a sensitive one and as such expects that other members of the party will also be interested in contesting the position.
“We welcome a healthy contest as it will engender wider participation and afford party members, represented by delegates to the convention the opportunity to make their choice. We therefore urge all delegates to the convention to objectively rate the aspirants and make a wise choice in the interest of the party.
“We are going to run an all inclusive campaign devoid of rancour and we urge others interested in the position to eschew all forms of bitterness and desperation but present their credentials and allow the delegates to decide on behalf of the party”, he said.
