The forum meets on Wednesday.
The lingering disagreement among the 36 state governors over the May 24 election in the Nigeria Governors Forum tops the agenda of their meeting which holds on Wednesday in Abuja.
This was announced in a notice signed by Asishana Okauru, the Director General of the forum.
The notice said the 7th meeting of NGF, which begins at 8 p.m. at the Rivers State Governor’s Lodge, Abuja will be chaired by its Chairman and Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.
Disagreement broke out among the governors following the re-election of Mr. Amaechi as the Forum’s Chairman.
The Rivers State Governor defeated his lone challenger, Jonah Jang, governor of Plateau State by 19 votes to 16.
However, the 16 governors led by the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, PDPGF, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, protested the result and created a parallel body of governors, which has since opened a secretariat where it met last week.
Both Messrs. Jang and Amaechi belong to the PDP, which has 23 out of the 36 members of the Forum.
Mr. Akpabio told journalists last Friday that PDPGF had commenced moves to get the PDP leadership to lift the suspension slammed on Mr. Amaechi over the crisis in Obio/Akpor Council of Rivers State.
According to the notice, which was released to the media, the post election disagreements; NGF and its partners; and NGF Strategy Plan (2013-2015) will be discussed under “Moving the NGF forward.”
It also said that Mr. Amaechi will brief his colleagues about NGF in the news; fresh and subsisting litigations; visit to the NGF Secretariat; and update on the Federation Account, FAAC; ECA; and Sovereign Wealth Fund, SWF; update on SPRM; and other issues.
The meeting will also discuss the structuring of the programme to address emerging challenges on the polio eradication initiative.
