The killer said he wanted to end the victims’ sufferings.
An overseer in a Spanish retirement home was sentenced on Friday to 127 years imprisonment for killing 11 elderly residents in what he claimed were acts of mercy.
Joan Vila, 48, made his victims drink bleach, insulin or medical mixtures in the retirement home in Olot between 2009 and 2010, the court said.
Mr. Vila said he wanted to end their suffering and take them to “heaven”.
The court rejected arguments by his defence that he was not mentally sound.
The convict Vila was also ordered to pay 369,000 Euros (N77 million) in damages to the families of his victims.
