Nigerian security officers ground ‘suspicious’ cargo plane in Kano airport

Soldiers and airport security officials have cordoned the plane.

Reports indicate that a cargo plane that landed at the Aminu Kano International Airport has been grounded by security officers.

Sources at the airport said few minutes after the plane landed on Saturday evening; security operatives conducted a search of the cargo.

Though the content is yet to be disclosed, speculations among senior airport security officials is that the cargo was filled with ‘suspicious’ arms.

Soldiers and airport security have now cordoned the area were the cargo plane is parked on the airport tarmac

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of Nigerian aviation parastatals, Yakubu Datti, were unsuccessful as he did not pick or return calls to his phone. The spokesperson to the Aviation Minister, Joe Obi, however, said he is not aware of the incident.
