The group asked Nasarawa youth to support the governor.
The Federal and Nasarawa State Governments have been called upon to ensure that killers of policemen and other security operatives in the state are brought to book.
The Gwandara Educational and Cultural Development Association, Nasarawa State chapter, made the call at a news conference in Lafia on Saturday.
President of the association, Ibrahim Kyari-Yahuza, who addressed the press, condemned the killing last month of scores of security operatives by the Ombatse cult at Alakyo, Nasarawa State.
“This act is not only primitive, archaic, wicked, barbaric and criminal but condemnable.
“No amount of blackmail, falsehood or politics should be allowed to bury the ugly incident. The culprits must be tried before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The association urged the people of the state to allow peace, unity and tranquility to reign for Governor Tanko Al-Makura to achieve his transformation agenda.
“We must as a matter of national responsibility condemn the recent killing of security operatives on lawful duty of protecting their fatherland.”
Mr. Kyari-Yahuza condemned the attempts by some leaders and ethnic groups to downplay the unfortunate incident. He stressed that that there was no justification for taking innocent lives on lawful duty.
He called on youth to shun acts of violence and lawlessness.
