Tsav lambasts Abati over Ribadu

Presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati

The former Lagos Police chief lambasted the presidential aide.

A public affairs commentator and former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Tsav, has berated the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Public Affairs, Reuben Abati, over his attack on former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu.

Mr. Tsav, in a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday, condemned the action of Mr. Abati whom, he said, left the substance of the discourse “to pursue the shadow by resorting to blackmail”.

He noted that Mr. Abati’s statement was full of contradiction and personal attack which betrayed his standing as a respected journalist and columnist.

According to the former Lagos Police boss, instead of calling Mr. Ribadu names like hypocrite and liar, the presidential adviser should have countered the statement by Ribadu that Nigeria is a sinking ship.

“Dr. Reuben Abati amuses me as the defender of indefensible by severally contradicting himself in order to keep his job. If Nuhu Ribadu said “Nigeria is sinking”, we expect the Presidency to say Nigeria is not sinking and to give reasons to convince Nigerians that Nigeria is not SINKING, rather than leave the substance to pursue the shadow by resorting to blackmail.

“If Ribadu is a hypocrite as alleged by Abati, is Nigeria truly not sinking? Is there no endemic corruption, insecurity, injustice, injustice, poor medical services, bad roads, dilapidated educational system, unemployment, disregard for the rule of law, culture of impunity etc in Nigeria?

“Dr Abati is a greater hypocrite. The Abati I used to know and admire at Rutam House is different from the Abati (Parrot) now in Aso Rock. Man must chop but lies negate the ethics of journalism,” the statement reads.

Mr. Abati had in very abusive language lambasted Mr. Ribadu, an opposition leader, over the latter’s comment, made while addressing students of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria on Saturday.

Really, what people who love this country need to do is to truly and honestly unite, with altruistic intention, to rescue the country from total collapse. It is clear that there are strong, gifted elements who can actually take responsibility for a better direction for the country, but the devil has absolutely hijacked their heart and soul. Leaders who are still sane should endeavour to re-group with the sole purpose of rescuing the nation and not just seeking power for its sake. Clearly, we don’t need selfish, greedy, direction-less people at the helm any more. People who simply cannot understand nor have the ability to comprehend that we need a lot more investment in education, health, food, shelter, drinkable water and good roads, not to mention electricity. Employment of graduates and school-leavers has now become unattainable and some people cannot see the destructive effects! How they cannot see the damage they are wrecking on the future of this country, I really don’t know! Shame!

All this attack on Abati and the presidency is about 2015. Why this so much noise about bad roads, insecurity corruption etc? Where they ever there? They talk as if it started in this administration. GEJ has tried in many areas and there are lots of improvements both in road construction, agriculture, aviation, health, power etc. Nigerians should learn how to be sincere in judgement and not pass negative judgements unduly on people because of politics. The 2015 northern presidency project should not make us breed this kind of hatred I see so many northerners display against Jonathan. We all know if a northern candidate takes charge in 2015, he won’t perform better. Rome was not built in a day.

Alpacino, you don’t seem to get it at all, it was all about Nigeria’s sinking and not all about Jonathan, but as the incubent, Jonathan cannot be excluded from the failure of his of his predecessors, Abati could have taken his time to explain GEJ’s achievements and future plans instead of calling Ribadu names, get it right and put sentiments apart, Nigeria needs to be resuscitated and whomever the incubent is needs to be told.

Mr Alpacino, unless nigerans like u learn to stay above the realms of region, this country has no future. For crying out loud, did u need an angel to tell u GEJ’s administration has faild this country so very bad? Kindly reflect back on the eras of GJE’s campain, he never told nigerians he was going to try b4 the people voted him into power. For God sake alpacino I don’t knw about u but in my time, I have never. Seen an ellection conducted that has gone beyound regionalism, ethnism and religion like that of GEJ.look at how people 4rm the north, especial the minority groups voted massively even though they don’t share thesame region with him but because the bliv so much in him and most of them end up being killed for making those decitions as a result of post election violence and I knw GEJ and U are fully awaire of that and all U do is talk about critism coming from the north. Take a closer look at all the protest that was massive held both at home an in the diasporah during his transition period from vice to president as a result of the den president death, all kudos to logosians. All this for the soport of GEJ an nothing to show it. But all this things people like you an GEJ have forgoten in a hurry an u talk regionalism and all that. God bless nigerian.FROM KADUNA
