Governors’ Forum Election: Uduaghan admits serving as agent for Jang, Amaechi

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State

Details of the Nigeria Governors Forum election which returned Governor Rotimi Amaechi as winner have continued to emerge with Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, saying he was agent to contestants Jonah Jang and Mr. Amaechi in the poll.

Mr. Uduaghan, who is pro-Jang, said as agent for both candidates, he protected the interest of winner Amaechi of River state, and loser Jonah Jang of Plateau state during the vote count.

Mr. Uduaghan offered the explanation after the Ekiti State governor alluded he (Uduaghan) was the returning officer for the election.

“I was not the Returning Officer for the election as claimed by Fayemi but acted as agents of both candidates for the election,” he said of the election that has seen the loser, Mr. Jang, usurp parallel powers in the forum.

Mr. Uduaghan said he offered to be the agent of the two candidates for the election after a demand was made for four persons to serve as agents of the two candidates and no one offered to do so.

“I wouldn’t know why Governor Fayemi will come out publicly to say what is not true,” he said.

The governors, divided along presidency loyalty line, have fought to keep details of the election secret.

But PREMIUM TIMES has continued to exclusively report on the details of the election including revealing that one of the pro-Amaechi governors taped the entire election on his mobile phone.

The election in question is not free and fair and is very unfortunate
that a head like Gov. Amaechi cannot conduct a free and fair election as
the chairman of the governors’ forum. it is a shame to this country
that flag bearers of the states who should be the custodians of a free
and fair elections cannot conduct a free and fair elections under a head
who claims to be very wise and has every other member’s support.
judging from the result 16 to 19 as an incumbent chairman contesting is a rigged election and shows he is not supported and should stop creating unnecessary scene as he has no majority
support…. those praising him should hide their face underground as
that is not an election. How long should we keep praising evil in this
country, supporting an unjust course does not depict opposition but a
crime against development and moral living why are we now criticizing
those habouring the terrorists if we should support someone as governor and wants to stay all his tenure as a chairman of the governors forum.
lets wake up Nigerian…. this is not opposition or what ever is being
cooked as the reason one thing must give way for another and it must
    start from little things.
