A personal tailor to late business mogul and politician, Moshood Abiola, has revealed his plan and readiness of establishing a world class tailoring institute in Nigeria
The Abeokuta based fashion designer, Wasiu Taiwo, popularly called Wessy Creations, said this is his way of contributing to the fashion industry.
Mr. Taiwo, who is also into the hospitality business, made this plan known at a press conference in Abeokuta to mark the 10th year anniversary of Continental Suites, one of his business outfits. He explained that the institute’s headquarters will be in Ogun State, with campuses in the geo-political zones of the country.
The designer, who also handles tailoring job for former Ogun State Governor, Segun Osoba, and other notable Nigerians, noted that his dream of becoming relevant in the society through the fashion designing profession became a reality; hence his resolve to give back to the society by establishing the training school, which will equally produce more qualified tailors in Nigeria.
He said with the establishment of the institute, the graduates from there would be able to compete favourably with other fashion designers across the globe. He said it will also lead to job creation.
The famous tailor and hotelier said his success story would not be complete without tailoring, which paved way for many other things that transformed his life.
On the hotel anniversary, the proprietor boasted that “as a corporate entity, we have modestly fulfilled some of our corporate social responsibilities to our immediate communities and beyond.”
He added that as part of the anniversary celebrations, scholarships will be awarded to indigent students to assist them educationally.
