Mr. Nyako said Adamawa is the most peaceful of the North Eastern State.
The governor stated this in a broadcast to residents of the state on Thursday.
In the broadcast, which is Mr. Nyako’s first official reaction to the declaration, he wondered why Adamawa, which, he said, has been declared the most peaceful state among the six states in the North East region was included.
Mr. Nyako said Adamawa is a peaceful state and has been judged as the most peaceful in the North East region by international and national peace groups.
President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday declared a State of Emergency in three North Eastern States of Adamawa, Yobe, and Borno in order to check the activities of violent sects particularly members of the Boko Haram who are blamed for the killings of hundreds of people in the states.
Mr. Nyako, however, pledged support to the emergency rule declaration. He urged residents of the state to remain calm and prayerful during this emergency rule, and tasked parents to keep an on eye on their ward stressing that women and youth suffer most during a state of emergency.
Meanwhile, a curfew has been imposed in Adamawa State from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily with effect from Thursday.
In release signed by the Nigerian Army spokesperson in Adamawa, Mohammed Nuhu, the military advised all residents to abide by the curfew.
