The chairman has only named three aides to replace the sacked one.
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bamanga Tukur, on Tuesday appointed a new set of aides, three weeks after he sacked the former ones, including his eldest son, Awal.
In a letter to the National Working Committee, NWC, which was signed by the National Director of Administration, Gurama Bawa, Mr. Tukur requested the Committee to give the aides possible assistance and cooperation in the discharge of their duties.
The national chairman resumed work on Monday after being away in Canada on official assignment.
The new appointees include a former senator and governorship aspirant of the party in Sokoto State, Abubakar Gada, who will serve as the Political Adviser to the national chairman.
Others are George Korgba from Benue state who is the new Principal Secretary while A. Y. Ahamad retains his posts as the Special Assistant, Special Duties.
It is not clear why Mr. Tukur reduced the number of aides though a party source said he would name more in due course.
The PDP boss had, on April 26, fired his aides. Those affected by the sack were the Principal Secretary, Ibrahim Ida, a former senator; Political Adviser, Ahmed Gusau; Special Adviser on Electoral Matters, Saidu Kumo, a former senator; Special Adviser on Media, Ujudud Sheriff; and Special Adviser, Economic Matters, O. Akindele.
Others sacked were Special Adviser Inter Party Affairs, Shittu Mohammed; Special Adviser Security Matters and former Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro; Special Adviser, Mobilisation, Ishola Filani; Special Adviser, Monitoring Bennard Miko; Special Adviser Governance Osaro Onaiwo; Special Adviser General Duties Prince Igwe Uche; Special Adviser National Assembly Abdullahi Gumel; and Special Adviser Special Duties and Protocol Officer Saidu Sulaiman.
Giving reason for the sack, Mr. Tukur had said, “After one year in office, the political journey was interesting, challenging and I am better equipped in the general understanding and approaches of the operating system viz-a-viz the relationship between the party, Executive and Legislature which are important components of political governance.”
