Fresh attacks in Zangang Chiefdom in Kaura local government area of Kaduna state have claimed 12 lives, including women and children.
The incident followed a rampage by gunmen on Monday night.
The Council Chairman, Kumai Badu, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview.
He said that 12 persons had so far been confirmed dead while several others got varying degrees of injury.
According to the chairman, several houses and property were also destroyed in the attacks.
He added that although calm was restored to the area by the military, the people had yet to recover from the shock of the attacks.
NAN further gathered that four persons were apprehended by the military in connection with the attacks.
NAN recalls that similar attacks were carried out in the area in mid April which claimed several lives and property.
