The suspect was accused of killing his wife and assistant pastor.
An Abuja High Court on Thursday adjourned to September 10 hearing in a case of murder; because a prosecution witness, Praise Kaa, was not in a good frame of mind.
Ms. Kaa was supposed to testify against her father, Terkura Enoch-Kaa, who is standing trial for the alleged murder of his wife, Loretta, 44.
At the resumed hearing, Praise could not take the stand as she broke down in court and wept uncontrollably.
The presiding judge, Husseini Baba-Yusuf, then asked the prosecutor, Priscilla Oguamalum, to take another date for hearing.
He said that the witness was not fit to give evidence.
Mr. Baba-Yusuf said that the long adjournment would also enable Praise to sit for her Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination.
Earlier, Ms. Oguamalum prayed for an adjournment at the instance of the prosecution because her witness could not testify.
She also said that the adjournment would enable the prosecution to prepare its witness in the interest of justice.
In his submission, counsel to the accused, Joseph Henkeyerr, objected to the application for an adjournment.
Mr. Enoch-Kaa, an Abuja-based pastor of the Household of Grace Church, Kubwa, was arraigned on March 16 for killing his wife, Lorreta, a teacher and an assistant pastor of the church.
Enoch-Kaa had pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of homicide which the prosecution said contravened Section 221 of the Penal Code.
