The staff are particularly happy with the raise in their emoluments.

The staff of the National Secretariat of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have passed a vote of confidence on the National Working Committee of the party under the leadership of Bamanga Tukur.

In a release signed by the National Director of Administration at the Wadata Plaza secretariat, Gurama Bawa, Wednesday, the staff said they wanted to “place on record our appreciation for the efforts of the National Working Committee led by our respected National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, towards staff welfare and improvements in the conditions of service”.

The statement noted the recent review of staff emoluments approved by the NWC which he described as ‘unprecedented’ in the history of the party; describing it as a step in the right direction which will certainly bring out the best from the workforce.

They also said they are “aware that the NWC has outlined programmes towards boosting the capacity of the Party’s bureaucracy to rise up to the challenges of administering a modern political party.”

“We commend the forthrightness of the NWC and pledge that we shall uphold the ideals contained in the party’s policy documents in the discharge of our duties,” the staff said.

The NWC of Nigeria’s ruling party has been enmeshed in one form of controversy or the other since the inception of the current members about a year ago. Some party members are currently in court asking that all but four NWC members be asked to vacate office as they were not properly elected.
