The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Patrick Ekeji, has retired from office, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.
Mr. Ekeji retired on Monday evening after 8 years as the administrative head of Nigeria’s highest sports organ. His retirement is based on his attainment of the maximum age for civil servants.
Mr. Ekeji has temporarily handed over to the Mustapha Mohammed, the current director of finance and administration at the commission.
Sources at the commission said Mr. Ekeji’s retirement followed a directive from the presidency.
The former sports boss was seen as the most influential person in Nigerian sports in the past few years.
