God saved me from Boko Haram in Ganye- Police DPO

The police is a major target for bomb attacks in Nigeria

The police boss said his house in Adamawa was burnt down by the gunmen.

The head of the Ganye Police Divisional Headquarters in Adamawa State, Henry Okecha, said in Ganye on Thursday that he “miraculously escaped from the gunmen’s attack’’.

The police boss narrated his ordeal saying he could have been killed by the gunmen, who attacked the town on Friday freeing 127 prisoners from the Ganye Prison. The gunmen also killed a prison boss and attacked a bank and a police station.

“The vehicle I was in when the attack started, they were firing me all the way from Gangwari’s Palace to the divisional headquarters.

“It was only God that saved my live, they even went to my house and burnt it down completely,’’ Mr. Okecha said.

Mr. Okecha however expressed happiness that no police officer lost his life during the attack.

Earlier, the traditional ruler of Ganye, Umaru Sanda, said that soldiers and police ran for safety during the attack by the gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram.
