The car was donated to Tuface and his wife.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, the senate president said he did not give a Ferrari car or any other to the musician.
“The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, did not give a N47m Ferrari car to Tuface Idibia contrary to wild stories being circulated on social sites,” Mr. Ologbondiyan stated on his facebook page.
Both Tuface and Mr. Mark are Idoma from Benue State.
Pictures of the Ferrari exhibited by the couple at the ceremony have been circulated on social media sites. Clearly attached to the car was a statement saying it was donated by the senate president.
Mr. Ologbondiyan, however, described the allegation as “wicked, ridiculous and irresponsible.”
The spokesperson also said Mr. Mark did not attend the couple’s wedding in Dubai contrary to reports.
“Senator Mark did not visit Dubai for Tuface wedding rather he attended the 128th Inter parliamentary Union (IPU) conference currently holding in Quito, Ecuador. He was also not represented at Mr. Idibia’s wedding,” he said.
“The President of the Senate, Senator Mark, did not make a car donation of any kind to Tuface before departing Nigeria for Ecuador neither did he purchase nor send any car to Dubai as a wedding gift for the musician or his wife.”
Mr. Ologbondiyan asked anyone who had any contrary information to provide it saying “who made the donation on behalf of the President of the Senate?”
“It is therefore a puerile lie for anybody to state that Senator Mark bought a Ferrari car worth N47m for Tuface,” he said.
