Only one Nigerian photojournalist was present to cover the very last trip of the literary legend, Chinua Achebe, to his native land, Nigeria.

The event that brought Achebe home, 19 years after he moved back to the U.S. following a car accident near Lagos, was the 50th anniversary of the publishing of the iconic Things Fall Apart.

Now, that award winning photojournalist, Femi Ipaiye, perhaps, the most imaginative and most sought after documentary photographer in the Nigerian newspaper press today, presents rare pictures of the departed literary genius in this slideshow exclusively prepare for PREMIUM TIMES.

As I look through and review these evidence of rare history, I am arrested by the grandeur of the Achebe legacy, and the immensity of his contributions to history,” Ipaiye said.
