The police in Plateau have confirmed that eight people were killed by gunmen on Tuesday night in Mavo Village in Wase Local Government Area of the State.
Residents of the area said the victims were mostly indigenes while the attackers were alleged to be Fulani herdsmen.
The Commissioner of Police in Plateau, Chris Olakpe, confirmed the incident on Wednesday in an interview with journalists. Mr. Olakpe said nobody has been arrested in connection with the crime, although the police are on the trail of the suspects.
The Special Tasks-Force, STF, in Jos, in a statement by its media officer, Salisu Mustapha, said security agents have been deployed to the troubled area. He urged affected community to remain calm.
