Chianakwalam is replacing Orji.
A statement from the office of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said on Sunday that Mrs. Chianakwalam would be sworn into office on Monday.
Mrs. Chianakwalam, a 1977 graduate of the University of Ife, would be replacing Nnenna Orji, who presided over the tribunal for the last ten years.
She joined the Imo State Ministry of Justice in 1979 and rose through the ranks, having served as the pioneer Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP; District Attorney of Abia State in 1991, a position she held for nine years and attained the highest position of Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary, Abia State in 1999.
She has appeared in the courts at all levels from the magistrate’s Courts to the Supreme Court in criminal and civil matters. She handled more than 40 Election Petitions in the then Imo and Abia States.
She was appointed the Director Registry, of the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2001, before she voluntarily retired from service on December the 31, 2006.
After retirement, she later became the Executive Director of Change and Reorientation Mission, CHARM, a non-governmental organization, NGO and later the President of Sunctoria Limited.
She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and has held the positions of Secretary and Vice-Chairman of her branch at various times over the years.
She is a member of the International Bar Association, IBA, and an Arbitrator and Mediator.
