Yobe set for Jonathan’s visit – SSG


The Nigerian President will visit Yobe State on Thursday.

President Goodluck Jonathan will visit troubled Yobe State on Thursday, the Yobe Government has announced.

Presidential sources, including spokesperson, Doyin Okupe, had spoken about the president’s scheduled visit to the volatile states of Yobe and Borno.

In confirmation, Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Babagoni Machina, said in Damaturu on Wednesday that “all is set to receive Mr. President in Yobe State.”

He said the state government has completed all arrangements to receive Mr. Jonathan for a one-day working visit to the state on Thursday.

He said, “All roads to be plied by Mr. President to commission some projects have been worked and cleaned up.

“We are fully prepared to host Mr. President and, we are sure that Mr. President will be impressed with the development recorded in the state in spite of the security challenges.”

Mr. Machina said government is working with security agencies and all stakeholders for a hitch-free presidential visit.

“The people of Yobe are happy and anxiously waiting to receive their president and august visitor,” he said.

The SSG called on people of the state to support the state government to welcome the president.

Posters and banners bearing the pictures of President Jonathan and Governor Ibrahim Gaidam have been pasted at strategic locations in Damaturu while all the streets have been swept clean.
