The Nigerian security officials released the journalist on Friday.
Reports from Kaduna indicate that an editor of Al-Mizan Newspaper, Awwal Musa, who was arrested in an early morning raid on his house by agents of the State Security Service, SSS, on Monday, has been released.
A staff of the publication confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that the editor has been released by the SSS and is on his way to Kaduna from Abuja.
“Just as no information was given to us as to why he was arrested, we also don’t know the circumstances of his release until he gets back,” the official said.
He said more details as to why the journalist was arrested and released will be known by Saturday morning.
Nigerian and foreign journalists and organisations have condemned Mr. Musa’s arrest and the continuous harassment of Al-Mizan journalists by security operatives.
