Explosion kills three in Maiduguri

The explosives were targeted at Nigerian security officials.

An explosive device targeted at security operatives caused the death of three people in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday.

The Joint Task Force, JTF, on Operation Restore Order confirmed the killing of three persons after the explosion.

The JTF spokesperson, Sagir Musa, said this in a statement in Maiduguri, saying three people, including the bomber, died from the blast.

“An explosive device targeted at the JTF patrol team exploded at the Post Office round about in Maiduguri at about 1.00 p.m. on Wednesday.

“The explosion led to the death of three civilians, comprising the bomber and two others, and a JTF vehicle was damaged,” he said.

He assured the public that the JTF was on top of the situation in the state, in spite of the development.

“Consequently, the JTF reiterates its determination to ensure the maintenance of law, order and safety of lives and property of law abiding residents of Borno State,” he said.
