APGA crisis deepens as Enugu court sacks Victor Umeh as chairman

The crisis in the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, continued on Friday as an Enugu High Court ordered Victor Umeh to stop parading himself as the party’s national chairman.

The court described Mr. Umeh’s leadership as illegal and unconstitutional.

The APGA is one of the four parties that merged to form the new opposition party, All Progressives Congress, APC.

Less than 48 hours after the APC was formed, a faction of the party led by the Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, who was elected on the platform of the party, rejected the merger.

Another governor elected on the party’s platform, Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, had approved the merger.
