Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has expressed joy at the return to the country of the Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime.
Mr. Chime returned to the country early on Thursday after being abroad for about five months for treatment of an undisclosed ailment.
“We welcome the Governor back and we thank God almighty for restoring the Governor to good health in order to continue with the excellent work he is doing in Enugu State,” the ruling party said in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh.
The party thanked all the “functionaries of the Enugu State government and the state PDP officers for their loyalty and commitment to the ideals of the Party and the PDP Chime-led administration.”
Mr. Metuh said the love shown to the Governor during his period of incapacitation is a clear indication that “our people appreciate the good work of the Governor.”
“We are confident that the Governor shall consolidate on the tremendous achievements of his administration now that he is back to work,” the party said.
