The media training will hold in Jigawa, North West Nigeria.
Evidence for Action, E4A, a project funded by the U.K. Department for International Development will embark on a 3-day media training for journalists on the positive use of Maternal and Newborn Health evidence.
The training, which is scheduled to kick off on February 5 through February 7 in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, has been designed to train journalists on the need for accountability, improved advocacy and the use of credible information to save lives of mothers and newborns in Nigeria.
Presentations for campaigns on issues pertaining to maternal and newborn survival and role of the media will be made by notable professionals in media advocacy and development.
The training will also help journalists in developing skills acquisition on intricacies of social media for positive and balanced Maternal and Newborn Health, MNH, reporting.
Participants for the training were selected from print, broadcast and online media organisations.
At the end of the training, the group hopes to have built journalists’ capacity for producing positive and balanced MNH reporting; stories that will celebrate maternal and newborn survival, dispel belief in women’s death as fate, and provide a public platform to demand accountability.
