A couple traded accusations against each other as they sought the dissolution of their 10-year-old marriage.
Olakunle Olubiyi and Funmilayo Olubiyi told an Agege Grade ‘B’ Customary Court on Tuesday in Lagos that they were ready to
quit the union.
They accused each other of threat to life, infidelity and fetishism as well as causing their child’s lameness and dumbness.
Olakunle, 38, filed for the divorce and Funmilayo told the court to grant the request.
Olakunle, a tailor, who lives at the Dadaolu Street, Agege, submitted that his wife was uncontrollable and went anywhere at anytime without informing him.
“She has also threatened to kill me; I am not safe with her; she visits witch doctors.
“Our last child is three years old but can’t walk or talk, and I was told that my wife is responsible,” he said.
Funmilayo, 32, denied the allegations, and accused her husband of the same things.
“My husband has various colours and shapes of charms in one of his wardrobes.
“I had four children for him but two of them died mysteriously. I made enquiries, and to my greatest surprise, I was told that my husband was responsible.
“My last born cannot talk nor walk, and he is responsible.
“He told me that he felt like killing me. “He would have strangled me in my shop, if not for the intervention of one of my customers,’’ she said.
Funmilayo prayed the court to give her the custody of the two children, aged nine and three years respectively.
The Court President, Emmanuel Sokunle, told the couple to be peaceful and adjourned the case till January 30 for further hearing.
