The Yobe State Governor will present the 2013 budget on Wednesday.
The Yobe State Government on Wednesday mounted a water-tight security at the Yobe State House of Assembly in Damaturu, hours before Governor Ibrahim Gaidam presented the state’s 2013 budget.
A correspondent monitoring the developments reports that the road to the assembly complex on Maiduguri road in Damaturu had been cordoned off by stern-looking security operatives. Top government functionaries and reporters going to the assembly were subjected to vigorous screening by the security operatives.
Some government officials and politicians, who spoke on the security deployment, expressed satisfaction with measures taken to ensure safety in the insurgency-hit state.
The security officials refused to talk when they were approached for comments.
Yobe, alongside Borno, is the hot-bed of the Islamic Boko Haram insurgency, currently ravaging many states in Northern Nigeria.
