Dangote trucks have been involved in many accidents causing several deaths.
An articulated truck belonging to Dangote Group, Wednesday, rammed into five vehicles at Isara, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in fatalities.
Four men were killed while 31 people, including three children, sustained serious injuries as the truck, with registration number XD 220 ZKS, crushed all five vehicles on impact.
The Federal Road Safety Commission said the victims have been taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hopital, Shagamu, Ogun State.
Trucks belonging to the Dangote Group, owned by Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man according to Forbes magazine, have continued to be involved in road fatalities across Nigeria.
Last April, a coroner’s inquest indicted the company after a truck belonging to Dangote Sugar Refinery lost control and ran into vehicles at a police check-point, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, in 2010.
The coroner blamed the poor maintenance of the truck which caused it to suffer a brake failure. The horrific accident let loose an inferno which consumed over 40 lives as human occupants and metallic parts got charred in one of the severest fatalities on the expressway.
Although the coroner ordered the Dangote group to issue a public apology as well as compensate the affected families within three months; the management ignored the directive.
