CAN to sue Boko Haram at International Criminal Court- Oritsejafor

Pastor Oritsejafor
President of CAN, Ayo Oritsejafor.

CAN says it considering taking Boko Haram to the International Criminal Court.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, the umbrella body of tens of millions of Nigerian Christians, said on Wednesday that it is putting plans in place to press charges against the Islamic insurgent group, Boko Haram, at the International Criminal Court.

The President of the Association, Ayo Oritsejafor, stated this at the opening of the National Executive Council Meeting of the association in Awka, Anambra State.

“We at CAN are strongly considering pressing charges against the Boko Haram sect for crimes committed against Christians at the International Criminal Court and we will commence soon,” Mr. Oritsejafor said.

The Christian leader also urged the Federal Government to pronounce the sect a foreign terrorist group.

“The Federal Government should designate the Boko Haram sect as a foreign terrorist group,” Mr. Oritsejafor said.

“We will not encourage Christians to carry arms, but we have always called on Christians and the churches to defend and protect themselves,” he said, adding that “The way the sect is succeeding in its attacks, it is obvious that it is not done yet.”

Mr. Oritsejafor alleged that some churches in the north cannot get airtime on radio and television. He challenged governors of Northern States to take positive steps towards resolving the Boko Haram crisis.

“We call on the governors of the 19 northern states to come together and hold a meeting to know the fate of their people who are being killed in the north,” he said.

The CAN president called on other governors to challenge their northern counterparts to end the crisis.

“Without the measures put in place by the southern governors, there will be reprisal attacks every day. So why shouldn’t the northern governors put in the same measures?” Mr. Oritsejafor asked.

This CAN president is very funny.. He now needs money for fuel for his jet paid for by BH…

    • nnamy

yes o!this can man is very much disconnected from reality.ok now;make u go arrest boko haram

  • Innocent

How will Oritsejafor serve the summon?

  • NAGODI_1

THE HEAT IS ON ABOUT HIS PRIVATE JET, HE WANTS A DIVERSION!

    • Easy

I know that human beings are complex creatures with failings and positives. If Mohammed was
alive today, he would probably seek to acquire the best fighting machine available to carry on his jihad. Jesus would tell you to love your neighbour as yourself. The only criterion is to have your heart in the right place and I believe that he does. As the bible says, those who have no sins let them cast the first stone.

      • NAGODI_1

IF CHRIST WAS ALIVE TODAY HE WOULD HAVE ADMONISH AYO TO GO SELL HIS PRIVATE JET AND DISTRIBUTE THE MONEY TO THE POOR. AND THEREAFTER, FREE FROM HIS FUELING, PILOTING AND PARKING FEES AT THE AIRPORT CHRIST WOULD HAVE ASKED HIM TO “COME FOLLOW ME”!
IN THE NIGERIA OF TODAY WITH SO MANY TO HELP CHRIST WOULD HAVE LIMITED HIS PREACHINGS TO HERE AND NOW RATHER THAN ACCEPT A PLANE “GIFT” FROM PEOPLE WITH QUESTIONABLE FINANCES. JESUS NEVER PREACHED OUTSIDE ISRAEL YET HIS DISCIPLES AND OTHERS WHO DID NOT SEE HIM SPREAD THE GOSPEL TO THE FAR CONERS OF THE WORLD.

      • Dan-Hausa

You don’t and would never know your bible; have you ever heard any muslim abusing jesus? I don’t blame you because your are worshiping your pastors not God. Please try to get a religion so that you will have relevance in the community.

  • Chidi

Oritsejafor is worse than a joke. He gives Christianity and pastors a bad name.Clearly he doesn’t think that the Muslim victims of Boko Haram are also human beings and deserve to have their injuries also addressed. And he claims to be a man of God? Oritsejafor should please just walk away from CAN in shame. But the man is shameless. He should go enjoy his Jet since he can now go and come back as he said and stop distracting people dealing with serious life and death issues. I presume he will fly to The Hague with his Jet. When he gets there, he will discover that the ICC doesn’t have civil jurisdiction and Boko Haram doesn’t have legal personality. Then he will come back like the fool he is. Stupid freeloader!

    • CAN

It is clear that this sect are targeting Christians and you can see clearly in their bombing spots- churches. So stop insulting a man of God for pointing out that these so called faceless people are killing mostly Christians even if there may be few Muslims caught up in their attacks. Have you asked yourself, how many mosque have they bombed over all these number of churches they are bombing? They sect had named their leaders who will dialogue with Federal Government and we still call them faceless? Alright, Mr Chidi who knows it all, what is your own solution to these problem Nigeria is facing? Let’s be constructive in what ever we suggest cause it is easy to point out flaws in anyone’s opinion but to prefer your own solution is what you cannot score a point at if analysed critically.

  • Otunba A A

Oritsejafor, you are going to sue faceless group, you are a joker. You bether consult with your brother at Aso-rock, so that he can find solution to the matter instead of you wasting your time to go to International criminal court.. You are a noise maker.

    • Easy

Why are you exhibiting so much negativity and arrogance? The Organisation has recently
asked the Federal Government for talks. Somehow they are going to break cover to get into negotiations, remember the Government would not talk to a faceless group. How do you solve the problem of Islamic terrorism, where a group is willing to take their own lives just to inflict death and suffering on others? The best solution in my opinion is to root them out while providing circular education for the young. Just the same as the government is doing.

      • I think u are more arrogant by not respecting a mere view of someone, by sarting with such an insulting statement, before giving your views, be matured and educated please, village man

        • Easy

You have demonstrated a great understanding of my current situation. Nevertheless, my village is currently looking for an idiot, would you like to apply?

    • otunba, true talk oow,,,but, the one in the aso rock maybe worse than him oow,,lols

    • CAN

You can see how Mr. Easy carefully suggested a way out of these mess and did not dwell on attacking a man of God’s personality of Mr. President. It is easy to sit back criticize but if given opportunity to be CAN president or Nigeria’s President we would not know an inch of what to do to curb this terrorist act on Christians. Mr. Otunba, what is your solution to this problem cause idle men discuss people while the businessmen and intelligent men discuss issues and suggest solutions.

  • Adam

good one from CAN ….a very good effort…i know is only CAN that can stop this BH

  • tocadel

I think that this man wants publicity for himself. If you were serious you would just fo it not think about doing it. You know their office and their head man , el rufai

  • Halima

I hope you will sue the christians that are bombing churches too? what a leader

  • Musa

Why are Christians so quick to judge themselves, the truth is that we Muslims are strong cos we are united where have u ever heard that we question our leaders, your brothers are being killed in their numbers everyday and all the guy wants is peace in the north. I leave in the south and can walk into the mosque in and out as i wish y can’t it be the same for your brothers in the north and what gives you the impression that BH is faceless. If the guy wants to sue den he knows exactly who to sue.

  • Dan Arewa

Among the Boko Haram members, financiers is your orije.
