“The envelope also contained a demand for me to pay N5 million into an account in one of the new generation banks,’’ she added.

A police source confirmed that they had received the report of the crime.

I do not believe this story no utter of truth in what the woman is saying. First she was rape and she did not report the matter to the Police, secondly she was sent a note or rather she receive a note asking her to pay in 5million naira, how did they know how to contact her? Was the note deliver in her resident? Canwe all see that the woman is lying, I suspect her having an affiar with this guy now the guy is trying to take advantage of that by demanding for some amount or display the video he have in his possession

    • 1) Even in advanced countries, many people do not report rape because of the shame and the fear that they will not be believed.

      2) You asked how the ‘alleged’ perpetrators knew how to contact her? – she said she was in a cab; she could have had her handbag with her which could have contained documents or an ID card that identified where she was living. She says she lives in Gwarimpa and boarded the taxi from there. It is possible the cab driver also lives in Gwarimpa and knows where she lives or was able to trace where she lived.

Yes, there is the possibility that the woman is lying. I have only tried to show that there are valid counter arguments against the points you have raised. I am also assuming here that since she told the police a disc was sent to her, she would have handed it over to them as evidence. The police should be able to say if the sex was consensual or not

This Ehis of a man is just from down below! He lacks sense of critical analysis and even draws blind conclusion but nemesis stares people like him on the face.

all I just said was my own opinion like every other civilized world one is not bond in making his or her own opinion sammy its left for u to make ur own opinion on an issue of this magnitude well siut urself

    • Mpitikwelu_na_Ugwu_Awusa

I think it is always safer to believe women in this situation until the contrary.

      • Dan-Hausa

Have you seen the work of your people (true inyamiri)? the same as Cynthia’s case. Please list the suspected heartless persons involved in Cynthia’s murder and what is their respective tribes? Are you not even ashame of your self?

    • Ehis, I think u are slightly wrong in ur postulation that cos d suspect culd contact d victim that they probably know each other. The simple truth is dat u can’t really tell who nd wen u are been monitored. It is possible that poor lady has been trailed for a long time before she fell into the criminal’s trap

    • samuel

You are ignorantly shameless with your blind analysis. She had afair in uncompleted building? It is your type who perpetuate this kind of crime. No excuse for this $onsterous act

      • ehis

Samuel I have the right to make my own opinion and pls observe the situation before u make any unneccery comment abt things u do not know pls.

    • I think u got it wrong, how do u expect our daughters/sister in our society to come out and say that they were raped come on this is Africa my brother. We have our culture and integrity to protect. Let’s pray that justice should be done period

    • wenogodie

whichever way you may look at it, ehis, is it right for either your lover, husband, wife or anybody to take your nude pictures and threaten to go public with them for money. For goodness sake, what country is this, we should be asking.secondly, the scenario is possible given that most people carry their identity in their bags or she may have been targeted within the neighborhood.dont you think so

  • ehis

Thanks guys I understands all the point being lay out and I think in a way u guys are right, I was only trying to imagine what would hv happen between the lady and the rapist, I just hope and pray the truth come to light, though very difficult in this part of the world but very easy in the other side of the world. Police should do there job and bring justice to this issue.

Do your writers or editors have any idea as to what the word “illicit” actually means? To characterize a kidnapping and rape as illicit requires either massive amounts of ignorance or the social capacity of a Republican senatorial candidate from Missouri or Indiana. You guys really do need an editor…a few reporters who can write in English would help as well.

    This is sooooooo saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad !!!

  • money

    This is sooooooo saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad !!!

  • It is very unfortunate the way some ppl are seeing things, what are u going to archieve by accusing an Igbo person? Dan Hausa. Committing a crime is not perculiar to a tribe/religion anybody can do it. Coming back to the issue at hand, I think d issue of rape is not a something that one can easely come out and disclose it but it came to ur knowledge due to d demand of money and threat to her life in general. My prayer is that may God replicate that to their family as well. Be it their mums or daughters. And may God give the police the wisdom and apprehend them, for them to reap what they sowed

  • wenogodie

    its dispicable, this country.

I think this is one problem we have in this country we hate it when an opinion is made, we want to hear a governor stole oh we are quick to crucity wether the story is right or not Nigerians do not care. Can we be more rational for ones anyway any one is free to his or her own opinion. I have made my its an observation from the story I have read so far let wait and see what really happen
