The lady who was kidnapped has finally been released.
Obedatu Abudu, the mother of the Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Internal Security, Abiodun Balogun, who was kidnapped has regained her freedom.
Mrs. Abudu was kidnapped by gunmen at her Ijebu Water-side private residence in Ogun State. She spent four days with her captors.
The legislator, Mr. Abudu, announced that his mother had regained her freedom in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta. He thanked the Ogun State Government; the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN; security agencies; and religious organisations that got involved in the release of his mother.
“I Hon Balogun and members of the family thank the Governor of the State his Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwai, the National Assembly, the Security Agencies, for being alive to their responsibilities”, he said.
The lawmaker did not give details of the release, neither did he disclose whether he paid a ransom to free his mother from her captors.
