Mr. Mimiko led his closest rival, Olusola Oke of the PDP, with over 100 thousand votes.
The newly elected Governor of Ondo State is Olusegun Mimiko of the Labour Party, LP.
At the end of the collation at the Akure State Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr. Mimiko got 260, 199 votes. He was followed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Part, PDP, Olusola Oke, who had 155,961 votes. Rotimi Akeredolu of the Action Congress of Nigeria got 143,512 votes.
According to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ondo, Akin Orebiyi,the total number of registered voters in the State is 1,638,950; and the number of accredited voters is 645,597.
A total of 30,415 votes were declared invalid while the valid votes are 594,244.
Based on the results, Mr. Mimiko will now be sworn in for a second term in office.
