The deceased was described as a honest and hard working officer
The Director of Relief and Rehabilitation at the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Edward Maigida, is dead.
A release from the Agency’s Publicity Department stated that Mr. Maigida, 56, died at the weekend in the National Hospital, Abuja, after a protracted illness.
While condoling the family of the deceased in Abuja, the Director General of NEMA, Muhammad Sani-Sidi disclosed that Mr. Maigida’s last assignment was when he led a team of emergency officers to assess the impacts of flood disasters in Plateau, Adamawa, Benue and Yobe States.
He described the late Director of Relief and Rehabilitation as an honest, hardworking officer who was committed to humanitarian services even at the time of his ill health.
“The agency would continue to miss him, especially now that NEMA is actively involved in the relief and rehabilitation of many communities that have been devastated by the flooding in the country”, he said.
The statement by the publicity department noted that the late Maigida joined NEMA in 1999 and rose to the position of Director in the Relief and Rehabilitation Department in 2011 having served in different capacities as Deputy Director of Administration and later the Coordinator of the North Central Zonal Office in Jos.
The deceased, who was a native of Shendam Local Government Area in Plateau State, was a devoted Christian. He is survived by his aged mother, wife, four daughters and many relations.
