Court discharges 5 accused persons for absence of police prosecutors

An Abuja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday discharged five accused persons — David Aondofa, Ife Oluwa, Jacob Ahuruonya, Mustapha Yakasa and Uju Ike, due to the absence of their prosecutors.

The accused persons were in court for continuation of hearing on their different charges, earlier adjourned for Wednesday for hearing.

The Magistrate, Musa Jobbo, had called for the appearance of the police prosecutors but discovered that they were all absent without any reason and nobody to represent them.

Mr. Jobbo struck out the cases and discharged the accused persons, all of whom ran out of court with joy and gratitude.

The first accused, Aondofa of Wuse, Abuja, was charged for alleged conspiracy and extortion of Black berry phone and the sum of N87, 000.

The second and third accused Oluwa and Ahuruonya, both of no fixed address, were charged for alleged criminal trespass.

The fourth accused, Yakasa of Wuse, Zone 3, was charged for alleged theft while the fifth accused, Ike, was charged for alleged cheating.
