PDP wins Plateau by-election

The Peoples Democratic Party

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Gyang Pwajok, has been declared winner of Saturday’s Plateau North senatorial by-election.

According to the Returning Officer, Fatima Sawa, a professor at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Mr. Pwajok won the election with 195,349 votes, with the closest to him being John Dungs, of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, with 38,847 votes.

The candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Chris Giwa, had 36,245 votes; that of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, Danladi Atu, had 30,132 votes; the Action Congress of Nigeria candidate, Yusuf Pam, had 27,609 votes; and Labour Party’s Lumumba Da Adeh had 25,527 votes.

Mr. Pwajok will be issued the certificate of return and would represent Plateau North in the Senate.
