Flood ravages Otuoke, President Jonathan’s hometown

As the incursion of flood into some parts of Nigeria, especially the Niger-Delta region, continues to spread, leaving several communities submerged, one of  the roads leading to Otuoke, the host community of the new Federal University Otuoke in Bayelsa State, has received its own share of the devastation.

Otuoke is also the hometown of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The water body along a section of the Azikoro-Agbura-Onuebum road (which leads most directly to the community) has completely overflown its bank, thereby turning the road into an expansive pool of water and rendering it virtually impassable.

The management of Federal University Otuoke had to  issue an advisory to its students, staff and friends visiting Otuoke for Saturday’s inaugural commencement of residential/academic activities to use alternative access roads to the community – the Elebele/Emeyal or Imringi/Emeyal routes.
