PREMIUM TIMES please there is a situation in University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, that needs to be published.
It started when we resumed for the new session. We were told that one of the boys hostels by name Mbanefo Hostel won’t be rented out with the excuse that it is a dilapidated building, and this information was not conveyed to us at the end of the previous session.
We begged the Dean of Student’s affair and he refused that it won’t be rented out because I guess he feared a situation of the building being rented out and they be blamed for the death of students.
Along the line he stopped disturbing us to pack out, and we stayed for the 1st semester without a single fee paid.
Now we are at the middle of the 2ND semester and we are being harassed by the female new Dean of Student’s Affair, that we should park and leave Mbanefo Hostel within 24 hours since we refused to pay, because they want to rent it out to Sandwich students coming soon.
The question is, why are they now to collect money from Sandwich after using us to test the firmness of the building?
Who told the new Dean of Student’s Affairs that we refused to pay.
Does the new Vice Chancellor know the real truth?
If they bring ARMY or POLICE to chase us tomorrow, do they actually know the real truth OR will they be told that we are stubborn students, criminals, okada riders illegally occupying Mbanefo Hostel.
Help us, Help us, our exams are around the corner, like next month
Our grades will be affected. Our physiological comfort will be disturbed. We are leaders of tomorrow.
We need such ill and corruption to stop in our school.
I love UNN.
Please I should be anonymous, and let this possibly get around the social network. It is genuine and this means is our last hope.
Let them allow us round off the almost ending session.
Thank you PREMIUM TIMES.
The situation on ground now is that the Dean of Students affair after holding words with the newly elected Student Union Government president, got back to the Mbanefo hall governor, demanding names of the students occupying Mbanefo Hostel as at the night of July 17, 2014.
We here that will be the criteria for us to be allowed to stay, and help the school authorities fish out non students occupying the hostel.
Some students including I wrote down our names, while many students didn’t comply because of fear. They said the security men who will come the following day will use the list to work.
That is the much we the students in Mbanefo Hostel know for now.
