Ten women have been killed in a fire in a nursing home in Chile, news portal Emol reported.
The fire broke out early Tuesday in the home, which is situated in Chiguayante, a city 500 kilometres south of the capital, Santiago de Chile.
Emol said the 10 women who died had not been able to flee the fire because they had difficulty walking.
A security guard was quoted as saying that he had heard an explosion shortly before the fire broke out, indicating that it may have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
