Ban criticises Sudan for expelling UN coordinator

The UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, has criticised Sudan’s decision to expel the UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, and the Country Director of the UN Development Programme.

This is contained in a statement issued in New York by

​Mr. ​Ban’s spokesperson, Stephanie DuJarric.

Mr. Ban said the sanctioning of UN personnel sent to Sudan to carry out their duties in accordance with the UN Charter was unacceptable.

The UN Secretary-General called on the Sudanese government to reverse its decision immediately and urged it to cooperate fully with all the world body’s entities present in the North African country.
