UK-based Nigerian group laments state of Nigeria

President Goodluck Jonathan

A United Kingdom-based group, Nigeria 2015, has said it would support the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the coming elections to provide alternative government in Nigeria next year.

The group, in a statement on Thursday, denounced the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying 16 years was enough for it to turn the country around.

The statement was signed by its Lead Officer, Planning and Communication, Kingsley Ogbonda and the Lead Officer, Liaison and Canvassing, Ladi Vera-Cruz.

The group noted that since the present democratic journey started in Nigeria in 1999, the PDP had not seriously tackled any of the big challenges confronting the country, despite its enormous spread and national resources at its disposal.

It said, “There is no aspect of Nigeria’s public live that have noticed significant improvements under PDP. The educational system continues to churn out ill-educated and unemployable graduates. The hospitals remain miserably ill equipped. Roads and transport system remain in dilapidated condition.

“The security of lives and properties of citizens continues to elude the PDP government as demonstrated by the activities of Boko Haram and kidnappers. All public institutions of the state, including the judiciary are stripped of their powers, staffed with the incorrigibly corrupt and rendered useless.”

It said in return, Nigerians had witnessed an unlimited stealing of public assets, ineptitude and salacious details of debauchery in high places.

According to the group, the shameless exploitation of the nation’s fault lines of religion and ethnicity had been the modus operandi of the PDP-led government, adding that the concept of law and order for PDP were completely lost.

It alleged that constitutional provisions were treated as null and void “as the financially induced Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) campaigned with reckless abandon.”

“We of the Nigeria 2015 Group believe that sixteen years is enough time for any serious party to re-engineer and make good Nigeria, or at least show its serious intention to re-order the country for good,” the group said.

“PDP has failed to do this. Ask any seriously minded Nigerian, not the ignoramuses that pranced around at the illegal and offending TAN rallies, what they think of four more years of a PDP government? The answer would be – despair and God forbid!”

      • amazing2012

How do we defend our votes ? Do you have votes ? Look at Ekiti state election over 20,000 troops just because they want PDP to capture the state. While the party distributed cooked rice to poor people using their money stolen. Jonathan is desperate of power, not even useful to him but to the people that are “forcing” him to contest for their interest. He is more like a baby who has no power over himself.

    • change 2014-2015

Let him do or die but nigeria are ready to defend their vote

Yet another phantom offshoot of the amorphous Angry-Peoples-Club.

The two names mentioned even sound foreign.
Anyone can gather gypsies and the likes and claim they are Naijas!
    Sorry we don’t know you.
DEPART FROM US YOU BROOD OF VIPERS!

Even the people outside the country can feel the pain, gej tenure is the worse have ever seen. 15 years of PDP should have turn the country around, Nigeria remains a laughing stock in diaspora. Nigeria deserves change that’s where APC comes in to take Nigeria to greater heights

      • change 2014-2015

Since the inception of pdp there has not been any good development in the country

The change is yielding this is what we want in this country

  • political_impasse

All these are clear indications that change has come to Nigeria, PDP thought they can close the eyes and mouths of millions Nigerians and continue to loot the nation, leaving Nigeria in a state of perpetual poverty. Those days are gone, its now high time we give APC a chance to effect positive change in Nigeria.
2015 will not pass us and change by.

Keep on lamenting. Lamentations that will go no where. Nigeria’s heroes are: Abacha, Jonathan, Obasanjo, Babangida, David Mark and the hundreds of bootlickers who follow them. They determine and control who rules Nigeria. Not you, in the Diaspora. In Cameron’s land. Since Nigerians are enslaved, slaves cannot free themselves without violent struggle. A pity.

This group should be charged for plagiarism as before yesterday when I published my article yesterday, 31st October, 2014 with the titled:Nigeria 2015 and beyond, detailing the achievements, policies, programmes and future prospects of president Goodluck Jonathan’re-election in 2015,there was no group of this nature in the uk. Be as it may, let this faceless paid unpatriotic, retrogressive group tell nigerians and international community what the ideology, policies and programmes of APC is all about. For this group to say president Goodluck Jonathan, pdp ruling party has not carried out any meaningful development smacks deceit and dirty politics APC is known for. Nigerians know that the state of nigeria political situations before 1999 when we even had some of the unnlucky aspirants like general buhari in power with the worst human rights record in political anal history of our country. Nigerians should please read some of the comments raised by nigerian novel laurel, wole soyonka on heartless, inhuman, religious bigot, ruthless, undemocratic and visionless buhari.APC as an opposition and this copy cat group in the uk need to be educated the role of opposition Party/ies in democratic settings to be an alternate patriotic party that should not downgrade the people and country the party and it’s leaders however govern one day. Opposition party like unpatriotic, non -ideological party should be constructive, debate issues logically, pragmatically and offer convincing, unambiguous alternate different policies and programmes to nigerian people without recourse to blackmailing and attacking president Goodluck Jonathan and the good people of our country. Please see my recent discourse on the need to re-elect president Goodluck Jonathan. He means well for.the country and people. Nigerians knows who their true leaders are and cannot be taken for a ride any more. God bless Nigeria.

  • greatbiodun

With all this, PDP should be shaking right now,and ready to get out of power

  • concerned9ja

God bless this group. We are ready for it. This PDP and the Otuoke clown are wasters. They must be shamed out of power. Pls, Nigeria 2015, start an online register and sit back to see millions appending signatures backing the ouster of these wasters.

  • Maazi Umahi

Let it go like Jonathan will definitely ends up in kirikiri or GWANTANAMO BAY

I do appreciate ur write up but I personally will not trust or support ur so called man of integrity until he cleared his name from the Haliburton bribe scandal, I can’t support a leader that can’t travel to some certain countries due to fear of extradition.

  • absam777

All the brown envelope articles that are suddenly springing up in praise of Atiku are not helpful. They reinforces the perception that the guy is desperate and have started scheming ( his only quality) to contest for the presidency come 2019. The strategy is wrong and counterproductive.

  • Zirem

Sure, Nigeria’s political scene is being crowded by half-baked politicians. I hope that the APC puts its house in order and employ the expertise n deep rooted political knowledge of the likes of Atiku Abubakar the Turakin Adamawa to sanitize system. The APC has a lot learn from the failures of the former ruling party, the PDP. Let the APC restore the political scene to what it use be, lets us be dazzled by actual and doable words of true politicians, than the sweet nothings of the wannabes we are forced to listen to these days.
