A U.S. based Nigerian filmmaker, Ofu Obekpa, has held a media screening for his latest film titled “Klippers” ahead of its August 10 cinema release.

Speaking at the screening, which held at Ozone Cinema, Yaba, Lagos, on Tuesday, the filmmaker, who featured in the Hollywood movie Black Panther, said he is optimistic that Nigerians will accept the movie.

He said, “Beyond the storyline, this is one film I am certain that many Nigerians especially in the diaspora can relate to on many levels. The actors are natural and in their elements throughout the movie. The dialogue is laced with a lot of Nigerian anecdotes and everyday language which makes for an interesting watch.”

Obekpa, a trained martial artist, did an amazing job choreographing the fight scenes in the movie, Hollywood style.

The scenes were believable and a far cry from some lacklustre Nigerian movies action films released in the past.

The storyline is also refreshingly different and the deployment of ‘proper props’ and locations brings the script to life.

The producer also paid attention to the technical details ensuring that these elements are at par with international standard.

There’s never a dull moment in the movie as the acting dexterity of these Hollywood Celebrity actors: WWE lcon Kevin Nash, Nigerian International Conphidance, Award winning actress; Libby Blanton and Robert Pralgo (Furious 7, Avengers: Infinity war) leaves the viewer wanting more.

The movie unveils an assassin (Ofu Obekpa) sent by his psychotic employer to kill his ex-wife (Libby Blanton). In his quest to accomplish the task, he becomes familiar with his target and this makes his mission difficult.

A series of events triggers a face off as the race to stay alive begins.

The producer, who worked as a production assistant in Captain America: Civil War and also starred in Black Panther as one of the King’s guards, said he shied away from acting in the past.

“I’ve been acting for a long time. My mum used to be an actress. My sister studies theatre. I think it’s a family thing. I literarily ran away from it. But it’s like, I’m coming to full circle right now. Life is funny as it is. I never thought I was going to be an actor but here I am now.

“I went to film school, taking advice from my dad, to add more production value to myself and learn the whole craft of movie making. So, that’s how I know how to edit, write, direct and all that good stuff,” he noted.

After its Nigerian run, ‘Klippers’ which is powered by Skyrunner Productions, will also be screened in Czech Republic, Japan, France, Russia, Poland, Brazil and Spain.
