True friendship multiplies the good in life and divides its evils. Strive to have friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island… to find one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune; to keep him is a blessing. Unknown
76 days to go on our 90 day plan and the second Monday of October! Wow! Time sure is running! Humans were made for relationships and indeed most of the things that happen to us- good or bad are usually linked to our relationships. But in our bid for achievement our relationships sometimes suffer. Are your relationships suffering?
From time to time, we all need to review our relationships because relationships either fuel or drain us. But we’re often unwilling to review our relationships because of its time consuming to do so, but if we are going to maximize our talents, we’d have to invest in the right relationships.
That sometimes means cutting off some, especially those who speak to our past and not our future. It also means increasing time spent with people who we’ve taken for granted like spouses and friends who we may see often, but not really listen to. Just ensuring the wheels of our relationships are well oiled has a tremendous impact on our creativity, peace of mind and success.
Don’t constrain your thoughts to the ‘big’ relationships. Drivers, maids, cooks, cleaners count too- are you just passing them by or do you really hear them? A top manager in telecoms speaks of how listening to his driver in Lagos traffic gave him significant insight to a nagging problem that saw him receiving rapid promotions and significant rewards.
This week’s task:
1. Review your relationships
2. Make peace where you need too
3. Appreciate people who have been helpful to you in the past
