2018 BET: Davido wins Best International Act

byIdoko Salihu

One of Nigeria’s most celebrated music acts, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has won the BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards as “Best International Act.”

Davido edged out his Nigerian contemporary, Tiwa Savage, Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Stormzy (UK), Fally Ipupa (DR Congo), and others to cop the highly coveted award.

Visibly excited about the win, Davido in his acceptance speech sent out condolences to Dbanj over the loss of his son.

He also thanked BET for the award and used the medium to promote the African culture while charging musicians to collaborate with one another.

The win makes it a second for the Nigerian multiple award winner; the first was in 2014.

This comes shortly after he was spotted with American record producer, DJ Khaled, in the U.S.

The event was highlighted with a slew of performances from some of the finest international acts like J.Cole, Nicki Minaj, Migos, Snoop Dogg among others.

The BET Awards celebrates achievements in entertainment and honours music, sports, television, and movies. The 18th ceremony was held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday and hosted by Jamie Foxx.
