Top trending Nigerian YouTube videos in 2016

The list of 2016 top trending YouTube videos in Nigeria and globally has been released.

It was contained in a statement issued by Google Nigeria and released to PREMIUM TIMES.

A cursory look at the favourite video of 2016 shows that Nigerians joined the global community in dominating the dance floors with American superstar, Rihanna.

On the one hand, funny indigenous videos by rising child comedienne, Emmanuella, is the most watched video on YouTube in Nigeria in 2016.

The video I’ll Beat You (Mark Angel Comedy) in particular had the most views on YouTube in Nigeria in 2016. Also, funny man; AY and actress; Jenifa, also dominated the year.

Tiwa Savage’s explosive interview also led the pack. Google reveals that it was the second most-watched video in Nigeria in 2016.

If anything at all, this year’s non-music list makes it even more apparent that Nigerians love a good laugh, with eight of the top 10 trending videos being humour-themed.

The much raved-about Mark Angel Comedy was the most featured with three of the top 10 videos in the non-music category.

Also, the Nigerian favourite AYTV owned by popular comedian, Ayo Makun, continued to excite some of the top trending content on YouTube in Nigeria.

In the music category, the global chart hit ‘Work’ by Rihanna featuring Drake occupies the top position with over 796 million views.

This year also saw young acts like Kiss Daniel, Korede Bello and Tekno Miles earning higher views among trending Nigerian music videos.
