T-Records, owned by Mark-Anthony Opurum aka Ogologo Na Tallest, has unveiled its first label act, Daniel Tunde Adeosun, popularly known by his stage name, D’Tac.
The label which has its roots in the United States, made this known on Sunday, when it signed a multi-million naira management deal with D’Tac, at IBIS Hotel in Lagos.
Speaking at the exclusive event, the label boss, Mark-Anthony Opurum, revealed why he signed 19-year-old artiste on with his label.
“D’Tac was selected after a keenly contested online contest that required Nigerian-based upcoming artistes to send in their best song. We received over a 100 entries and each song was carefully screened by the organizers.
“The next stage saw 10 finalists come in for an oral interview as well as a physical performance of their song entry. D’Tac’s song and stage performance earned him the first position. His effortless fusion of Afro-pop, RnB, Reggae and Highlife sounds into his music stood him out of the pack. This is the major reason why he was the preferred choice of my international partners,” he noted.
Still justifying why he settled for D’Tac, the T-Records boss added, “Having listened to some of his unreleased works, my team members and I, saw beyond D’Tac’s face value. We also discovered that he understands the art so well and he is an extremely talented singer and performer.”
Speaking about his foray into music, D’Tac told PREMIUM TIMES that his musical journey began at age 11.
“As kids, my friends and I belonged to a music group and we entertained our classmates and our peers during leisure hours. I started music production with a hand-me-down laptop from my elder sister in 2012,”he disclosed.
When asked if he is not intimidated by the crop of Nigerian artiste who are currently making waves in the industry, D-Tac said, “ Everybody has got his or her own space in the sky. I am not in the industry to be like somebody else. I just want to be as original as I can be because it is the key to my success as I begin my foray into music officially and professionally.”
Since 2000 when T-Records was incorporated, it has gone on to become a dedicated music, entertainment and media company driven by an extreme passion for music. In addition, the label also operates a well-equipped digital recording studio, digital video production and post-production facilities with high-end multi-media equipments.
