The hosts of the Headies Awards 2016 have been unveiled by the organizers.

The duo of rapper/comedian Falz TheBahdGuy and actress, Adesuwa Etomi, were announced as hosts.

The organisers in a post on social media said the duo were chosen for their prowess and rare creativity which is in tandem with the theme of this year’s event ‘create, think, recreate.’

The choice of the two star performers keeps the Headies long pedigree of pairing top entertainers. Past pairs include Basketmouth and Toke Makinwa in 2014, Tiwa Savage and Dr Sid in 2013, M.I Abaga and Omawumi in 2012, Rita Dominic and Eldee in 2011, Banky W and Kemi Adetiba in 2009, Basketmouth and Dakore Egbuson in 2008 and D’banj and Tana Adelana in 2007.

Before now, the award organisers released the 2016 nominees list which sparked controversy on social media.

The last Headies Award night was even more controversial as it witnessed a war of words between Mavin boss, Don Jazzy, and Olamide over the actual winner of the Next Rated Awards won by Don Jazzy’s prodigy, Reekado Banks.

To avoid a repetition of such occurrence, the award organizers went a step further this year via social media and TV programs to enlighten both artists and the audience on what it takes to win awards in any of the different categories.

The Headies Award was established in 2006 and originally called the Hip Hop World Awards.

The Next Rated award which sparked the uproar last year was first presented at the 3rd Headies Awards night. In addition to receiving an award, recipients of the Next Rated honour are given a vehicle at a later date.
