Fans of the embattled Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, have called on the newly elected leadership of the Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria, to recall the actress.
Worried about her prolonged absence from Kannywood films, foremost Kannywood movie promoter and marketer, Hassana Dalhat, told PREMIUM TIMES that Sadau’s fans want her to apologise to the appropriate authorities and return to Kannywood for their sake.
She said, “I spoke to people in Bauchi, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina and Gombe States and all of them are of the opinion that the actress needs to return to Kannywood. Although they queried her for violating some of the rules of the industry, they believe she should apologise for her wrong doings so she can return for the sake of her followers.”
PREMIUM TIMES also had a chat with a teacher in Kaduna State, Maryam Mohammed, and she said, “Rahama is my favourite Kannywood actress and I have seriously missed her. I want to advise her to drop her pride and apologise for her mistakes for our sake. It costs her nothing to say sorry to MOPPAN and retrace her steps.”
A resident of Bauchi, Habiba Shuraihu, also said that her love for Kannywood movies have greatly diminished following Miss Sadau’s absence.
“I love Kannywood films but I don’t feel happy because I don’t get to see my favorite onscreen actress. I appeal to the body of the film regulators and Rahama to please take the part of honour and settle their scores,” she said.
“I want Rahama to know that the Hausa film industry made her the star that she is today. Anything she does outside the Hausa film is not likely to be noticed up north. And we also want to celebrate here in the north someday just like veteran actors; Kasimu Yero, Audu Kano, Ali Nuhu, Hawwa Maina, and many others.
“They are all with us through thick and thin. Ali Nuhu, stars in Nollywood films, yet he always gives back to his people. Please do not listen to people who are giving you bad counsel. Go and apologise and return even if it is for our own sake,” She pleaded.
Sadau was expelled from the Kannywood film industry in October 2016, for featuring in a romantic musical video by Jos-born singer, ClassiQ.
The actress has since moved on. She is currently featuring in Nollywood film.
She also one of the Nigerian celebrities named in the KLM Royal Dutch airlines “Celebs Around Town” campaign which will be run throughout June.
As part of the campaign, Miss Sadau, will be flying to Berlin courtesy of the airline.
