Kannywood actress, Hannatu Bashar, has won the best promising act award, Kannywood Category, in the just concluded City People Entertainment Awards.
The award ceremony, which is an annual event, was held in Lagos on Sunday and was fully attended by film and music celebrities from Nigeria and Ghana.

In the Kannywood category, Yakubu Mohammed won the best actor award and Adam Zango’s blockbuster movie, ‘Gwaska’ won the best Film of the Year.
Winners in the category are:
Rahama Sadau — Face of Kannywood 2016
Yakubu Mohammed — Best Actor
Hassan Giggs — Best Director
Nafeesat Abdullahi — Best Actress
Hannatu Bashar — Best promising actress
Sani Suleiman — Best producer of the year
Real Time Multimedia Kano — Best Production House.

Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES from the venue of the event in Lagos, last year’s best actress awards winner, Umma Shehu, who also got nominated for the award this year, said Kannywood celebrities always look forward to the City People Awards.
“Although I did not win this year, I congratulate those who won and also applaud the City People Magazine for making it a wonderful event for all of us.” Ms. Umma said.
The City People Awards also had winners in the English and Yoruba film categories, as well as in music.
