President-elect Muhammadu Buhari has said that his government will look into ways of stopping piracy in the Hausa film industry, Kannywood.
Mr. Buhari made this known during a courtesy visit by the Arewa Film Makers Association in his home at Daura, Katsina, Tuesday.
Mr. Buhari also thanked Kannywood for its contribution to his presidential campaign.
“I appreciate all that you have done; the beautiful campaign songs, the video jingles and the drama awareness on our party’s manifestos,” Mr. Buhari said. “They were all beautiful and I thank you.”
The delegation was led by AFMA president, Isma’ila Na’abba.
In his remark, Mr. Na’abba said the Hausa film industry will continue to produce good and educative movies especially ones that will correct societal ills in northern Nigeria.
“We thank the president elect, Muhammadu Buhari, for the warm hosting and we wish him a successful reign,” Mr. Na’abba said.
