The Kaduna State governor, Ramalan Yero, was on Saturday declared the Icon of Peace and Youth Role Model at the Arewa Music and Movie Awards [AMMA] 2015.
The AMMA is an annual event that honours professionals in the music and movie industry in Northern Nigeria.
The event held on Saturday at the Kaduna International Trade Fair complex.
While Adam Zango was named Best Actor for the year, Nafisa Abdullahi won the Best Actress award.
Suspended actress, Rahama Sadau, won the Best Upcoming Actress award while Aisha Dan Kano was named Best Actress in the Villain category.

Nuhu Abdullahi, Best Upcoming Actor
Jamila Nagudu, Best Actress Critics Choice
Tahir I Tahir, Best Producer
Aminu Saira, Best Director
Ibrahim Birniwa, Best Screenplay
Ali Nuhu, Pride of Kannywood Award.
Receiving the award on behalf of Mr. Yero, an aide, Ahmed Maiyaki, applauded the organizers of the event and promised that the Kaduna state government would continue to support the Kannywood industry.
“The government of Ramalan Yero is a youth friendly government and Kannywood is largely youth-oriented,” Mr. Maiyaki said. “So we shall encourage it to growth and provide any support the industry will require to be able to compete with its counterpart within and outside Nigeria”.
Other actors present at the event were Ladidi Fage, Fati Washa, Rabiu Rikadawa, and AbdulAziz Dan Small.
The next AMMA Awards will hold in 2016.
